About The Teacher
Music has been an important part of my life from an early age. Beginning with formal piano lessons at age 7, my music experience expanded over time to accompanying my Dad’s singing, accompanying voice students in high school, playing clarinet in band, and singing in choir and vocal ensembles.
After 21 years teaching “traditional” piano, I am delighted to have found SIMPLY MUSIC! It is a breath of fresh air in what can sometimes be a stuffy atmosphere! I love knowing I can better reach students by tailoring my teaching to each one’s INDIVIDUAL learning style. I love seeing students progress quickly . . . playing fun songs in 2-3 months that would typically take “traditional” students 2-3 years to master. I love seeing my students—ages 5 to 83—walk through the door excited about their successes. I love watching the relationships grow in “shared” lesson groups. I love that Simply Music redefines who can learn to play and enjoy music as a lifelong companion!

For Christmas this year, my husband and I wanted to give our children a gift that would last and be remembered for a lifetime. When I found SIMPLY MUSIC, I knew that we had to try one more time before our oldest son graduated from high school.
SIMPLY MUSIC's major premise is that EVERYONE IS MUSICAL. Ha! Not me. Not my children. A lifetime of embarrassment and "failure" had convinced me otherwise.
It has been 10 weeks since we started lessons. We are THRILLED with the results. We learned to play and sing to a lovely little song with both hands together at the first lesson. It is a home educator's dream of a music program.
Our 11 year old son is the most enthusiastic. He cannot wait to get up in the morning to start practicing. Throughout the day he practices 4 or 5 times. With this program, he has found the freedom to experiment with making his own arrangements and variations of the simple songs. He has told us over and over and over again, "thank you for the music lessons." He doesn't remember anything else he received for Christmas...but he will remember this present for a lifetime!
Candy Rushold has been very gentle and patient and encouraging. She is wonderful! She has made me believe that even I CAN play the piano. I AM musical.
Best of all, our piano is no longer quiet (but the xbox is!). Our home is filled with music, just like I dreamed it would be.
