Printing Music

Depending on the particular piece of music, Scorch often lets you print one page for free before you buy. This is a very good idea, it lets you check that your printer is set up correctly. If no free print is available, you can test your settings by printing the free sheet on our Test Your Printer page.

When you have listened to your music, and/or transposed it into the required key, you are ready to print it out. If you have transposed the score and want to return to the original key, hit the
Refresh or Reload button on your browser. If you play the score and cannot hear anything, click on the Sound button above the score (indicated by a graphic of two 1/8th notes) and choose another audio device, or check that your computer's volume is on.

To print a sample of the score, (or to print any of our free sample pieces) press the Print button on the score's toolbar. Don't click Print at the top of your browser window, or Print in the File menu, or type Ctrl+P or Command-P - these will print the web page, not the score.

After clicking the Print button, and a dialog box something like this should pop open. (It will be slightly different if you are using a Mac.) Because of the fact that different Scores have been setup for different Paper Sizes, please be sure to make sure the
Fit To Paper option is checked.

If your free print comes out badly, now is the time to correct your settings before purchasing. There are several options you can change (On Mac they are in the Sibelius area of the dialog box), so you may need to experiment until it prints okay.

See
print problems page for more details of how to correct your printouts.

Purchased Music

If you are simply previewing a score before buying it, you will only be allowed to print the first (sample) page of the score. Once you have purchased your music it, you will then have the right to print the entire score for the authorized number of times that you have paid for. If one copy is purchased, you will only get one print. If multiple prints of a sheet are needed, you will be required to purchase multiple copies.

CAUTION! Don't press the print button until you're ready, there's no going back!

Make sure you have made any changes to the transposition or instrumentation
before you print.

Also, be sure that your printer is switched on, contains paper and ink, and is plugged into your computer. If you
run out of paper, do not turn off the printer - just feed in some more paper and it should continue printing.

If your print does go wrong, you won't be able to print out again immediately. Either a) send an
email to Simply Music explaining what went wrong, and they will reset it for you, or if you are in more of a hurry, b) purchase the music again, and send an email to Simply Music to cancel your original order.
